Back pain is very common, in fact 85% of people will be disabled by an attack of back pain during their lives, and at any given time 7% of the adult population is suffering from a bout of back pain lasting 2 weeks or longer.  Back pain is the most frequent health care problem for the 30-50 age group and is the most common cause of work loss and disability.

Most back pain is caused by mechanical problems in joints and muscles. Over 90% of back pain, including sprains/strains and back pain caused by the "normal wear and tear of life" is caused by functional pathology (restricted joint movement, stiffness, weakness, trigger points in muscles and nerve entrapment) rather than a structural pathology (disease, tumors, fractures, and disc herniations).

The chiropractic profession emphasizes the natural power of the body to heal itself therefore using natural and non-invasive treatments such as manual adjustments, which does not include drugs or surgery.  Chiropractic has many different techniques, I implement several techniques to obtain the best results for my clients.  Along with traditional chiropractic procedures I also incorporate physical therapy modalities such as ultrasound, muscle stimulation, and traction as well as exercise programs, nutritional advice, orthotics, lifestyle modification and general patient education.

My goal as a chiropractor is to:

1) Meet my clients immediate needs which is the relief of pain.

2) To address the cause of the symptoms by restoring normal ranges of motion and function to the joints, muscles and other structures of the musculoskeletal system.

3) Assist the client in maintaining a properly aligned spine which helps prevent pain and ill health.

Many people think that rest is the appropriate treatment for back pain, however not only is it inappropriate but it is also harmful.  Adverse effects include slower healing, demineralization of bone and 3% loss of muscle strength per day, decreased physical fitness, increased psychologic distress and depression, progressive loss of work habit and increased difficulty in starting rehabilitation.

Pain affects everything you do and everyone you know...take control of your pain today.
